Re: Help with my molly!!

Hi. My buddy at work has the same thing happen with his 2 black mollies when he puts his hand in the tank cleaning or adjusting something - they come nibble at his fingers. I've seen it on occasion with my platies too. At times I have to be careful with the gravel vac - they come to investigate that too.

Re: Help with my molly!!

I'm always careful with the vacuum - sometimes Chaos is hidden well enough that I'm afraid I might accidentally suck him up, and as long and thin as he is, he'd go straight through the siphon tube. I'm going to have to be extra careful now in my guppy tanks, too - I just got two ghost shrimp. They will actually be temporarily housed on the end of my betta tank once the betta tank is healthy again and the shrimp are out of QT... they won't be somewhere that the bettas can eat them, but I'm hoping they'll help with the algae that is growing on the end of the tank. They're cute little guys.

I don't know if you ever get over to the betta forum, but I've had an outbreak of illness for unknown reasons - all my fish have been healthy up until now (except those who were dyed, and the one who died of dropsy, and fish who I bought sick) and I recently increased the frequency of water changes - the tanks are all cycled anyway, and I haven't put in new filter media recently. Several of my bettas have fin rot, a guppy appears to be developing pop eye (I'm not 100% certain so I'm treating her for it and hopefully it will never fully develope) and a tetra has a funny white spot on his face that doesn't seem to be ich or fungus. It looks almost like his upper lip has been bleached - its still there but its white. He's in one of the sections of the betta tank, anyway, being treated with tetracyclin. As far as I can tell, I caught everybody soon enough that there should be no lasting damage as long as treatment works... the only one who really concerns me is the tetra, as his behavior has changed. He is less active than usual, floats with his head down, and doesn't eat much. Hopefully the medication will help.
