sick molly (achoo)

Got a sick molly.

New to fish keeping, thinking it was ICH, but the white spot is only on 1 spot, not scattered throughout the fish.

It looks like whatever the white spot was caused scales to fall off

water looks green from a fish store recommended fungus treatment (remove carbon filter, dose, 48 hours 2nd dose, 48 hours water change + new carbon filter).

Anyone seen anything like this?

(PS, sorry for the blurry photo, I have to read up on taking better fish pics!)

bless you molly LOL ! (heres a tissue )
could miss molly have banged into something to get hurt? ive not seen it before but maybe another member has...

green water usually is from an algae bloom ...and some causes for that can be direct or indirect sunlight hitting the tank, over feeding, not enough water changes and gravel vacs, & overstocking are a few ways...

im also not much help with meds as ive never had to use any ..but definitely keep an eye on your water parimeters as most meds will kill your cycle heres a link on the cycle process http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm

I hope things look up!!

The green came from the treatment, package said it would discolour until the carbon filter is added again.

I saw a package for ich treatment at the store and that doesn't look like what this fish has.

Here's another pic.

I was thinking it was a disease ...I've seen it before, but never this bad where scales are missing and it looks like a sunken hole.

This time the what spot looked like all the others, then got worse. So it wasn't an overnight incident that caused damage.

In the past it was taken care of by a good water change & dash of salt ... and the problem cleared up.

The previous water test a week ago was clear.

(PS, any photography advice & I'll try to get a better pic)

the photo is blurry. but i dont think its ich. it looks like cotton-wool disease. its hard to say cuz the picture is blurry. but then i also looked in the background of the first pic again and saw a loach and numerous either red tailed sharks or rainbow sharks (blurry) how big is your tank. your male molly also shows fin damage so im also thinking it could be a territorial thing. generaly those fish are not housed together.
also if you are using the Jungle brand for treating fungus, i would remove your pretty plants if they are real! the jungle fungus treatment eats at real plants

Not a jungle brand treatment, it's API (Aquarium Pharmaceuticals)

I'll try for a clearer picture when my father-in-law visits. He's got an awesome camera.

Hello Matthew. Sorry to hear your fish is having problems. Is the patch fuzzie at all? It could just be missing scales and no need for treatment but pristine water conditions. Please keep us posted!

"Is there someone else there I can talk to?" - I should have asked that at the store when I got the fungus treatment.

So today is supposed to be day 2 of the treatment for fungus. There's been no real progress, but a full cylce of doses is:
1 dose, 48 hours later 2nd dose, 48 hours later water change.

So today, not seeing any progress before 2nd dose (am I just impatient?) I called the fish store. Got to talk with someone a little more knowledgable, who asked about the fuzz situation. Not really fuzzy, but scales are missing now.

The thought over the phone: bacteria. There's a treatment that won't conflict with the fungus stuff, quick fix, safe for all fish & plants.

So I'll give that a try and let you know about results.

So bacteria it was. The molly is happy & healthy, no signs of sickness. In fact, I have a couple black mollies, can't tell which was originally sick.

After the first bacteria treatment, it wasn't totally cleared up. I took the fish in for 2nd opinion, yes it was bacteria & I got a 2nd dose. That did it.

The main culprits are either dirty water & /or a scratch - nick that developed into the sore.
