Molly Fry struggling in new tank?

Hello I have just put all of my molly fry in the new 23 gal tank and when i turned the tank on (including a 20-40gal filter) the fish started to rapidly move their tails! I was wondering what might be going on? I think all of the fry are female. NOTE: the fry had just been moved from a 5gal tank

They're probably struggling against the filter intake.

find some filter floss and put it in the area where water comes out to slow it down..then use an elastic band and put some over where the water goes in as well so they dont get sucked up the filter

Ermmmm, I think it's like that little padding part of your disposable/replaceable filter. They sell big squares of it at walmart, petsmart, or your LFS. Click the image to open in full size.

I just cut a tiny piece and stuff it in the pre-filter thingy that covers my intake valve. It slows down the suction and current, while adding and extra filtering step. My water's crystal clear. All the moderators advise it and it works great!

Yeah that's what I do. It's a quick, simple, easy fix. If you google it, you'll see all kinds of examples of filter padding and filter floss and where you can buy them if you don't see it at your stores. I use it in the intake filter of my betta's tank and I use it in my 12g, too. I don't buy replaceable filters anymore either. It's too easy to make your own, way cheaper, and it gives you a choice with activated carbon or not.

or you can get a bag full of 100% polyester (stuffing used to stuff pillows and such) that has zero perfumes or dyes...much cheaper and goes a long ways
