I have had my female for about a year now, and she has been with a male the whole time but has never been pregnant before. I recently added 6 glofish to the tank and that is when I noticed she was larger than normal. This was on Friday the 12th of June. Saturday her scales started to pop out and she continued to get a lil fatter. She now has a large white circle thing formed around her anus. I just thought the scales were popping out becaue she was so pregnant but since reading some posts I think she may have dropsy, altho most posts say death is fast, about 1 or 2 days. It has been 6 days since her scales began to pop out.

one other thing I did notice is that she has stopped eating. she used to be a very agressive eater now she just swims in place.

I'm afraid it appears to have symptoms of Dropsy. The above link will give you a bit more information on it. Too, if you'll go to the top right hand corner of this screen and do a search for Dropsy you'll find more information and threads concerning the disease.

Thanks for such a fast reply. my worst fears are realised and now I am sad. She was the oldest fish in my tank. I will head into town to get some medicine for her.
