how to get them to breed?

i have 2 mollies ATM, male and female, both sail fin and they don't seem to be interested in each other. is their a way to get them to breed? say if i got them a separate tank with just them in it, would that get them to breed? or if i turn up or turn down the heat? same deal with my guppies, they aren't breeding ATM either.

thanks

Well, since you are way overstocked, it's probably better that they don't breed.

Also, just because you've never seen them mate doesn't mean they aren't breeding. The females are probably already bred.

i'm having the same problem mate, separating them would help, if they have a bit less space in a smaller tank, it will bring them closer together and encourage them to breed.

Good Luck

You don't say what size tank they are in or how many fish are in it. Mollies and guppies are very prolific breeders and really don't care where they are or how much company they have. If they aren't breeding I would tend to think it's a different problem. Maybe they aren't old enough yet, Maybe they are sick from something, maybe your water chemistry is bad, maybe they are having young but you never see them because they get eaten right away by all the fish. I have a 47gal. community tank and have never seen a fry in it. But if I take a guppie or mollie out when I see they are pregnant and put it in a breeder tank then I get loads of fry. Test your water, make sure they are well, and how old are they.

This post is over four months old. I'm pretty sure the issue has been resolved by now
