Unknown sudden death

Last night i found my marbled male molly dying. it looked like he got stuck and died. is their a chance he got stuck and couldn't go for air? he did die, but he didn't have a scratch on him when i found him. any suggestions? he was 100% fine like half an hour before.

a little bit extra and a little bit gross too.

i was too tired to scoop him out and went to turn off the lights when one of my crayfish came running across from the other side of the really fast. he ran straight toward the carcass and grabbed him and ran back to his hiding place. i saw him eating the molly. it was gross as. i couldn't get the molly out cause he was too deep in the hole.

this morning i found the half eaten carcass.

Sometimes fish just die, for no apparent reason. He wouldn't have needed to get air though, as Mollies are not Labyrinth fish, meaning they get all their air from the water.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Yes, he could have gotten stuck. Are you keeping an eye on your water perimeters?
