Congatulations! It amazing what your fish will do when they are happy!

Remember that fry (babies) are even more at risk from bad water than adult fish are.

What I tend to do when I have fry in the tank is to change out 10% of the water in the tank every other day and add something called Stress Coat+ to the water i am putting in the tank as well as the normal AquaSafe that I would add anyway.

Both these are made by Tetra. If you can find something called Prime where you live use that instead of the AquaSafe but I have never seen it in any fish store in my area so I am begining to think its only available in the US.

Just a quick additional thought Sam. Do you have space to fit a breeder net into one corner of the tank? If you do it would be worth catching the babies and putting them into the net to stop them from being eaten in you tank for the first few weeks.

This is the type of thing I mean http://www.forpets.co.uk/product.php?xProd=786

when you say his chest what do you mean exactly? could you post a photo?

my best guess would be bloating, how much and what do you feed him?

also you would get more attention on this if you started a new thread

he looks a little bloated, i would not feed him again today, and tomorrow give him a small piece of de-shelled pea (about the size of his eye). that should help with the bloating.

what are you feeding him?

just tropical fish flakes, but my husband was treating them to frozen bloodworm

ah okay, well the flakes are most likely what has caused the bloating. i'd get your betta on a good quality pellet diet like hikari or atisons, flakes don't have the nutritional quality that a pellet has and that should help things immensely
