| welcome to fishlore!! im sorry your fish babies have passed
the best thing id can suggest is get an API liquid master test kit so you never have to rely on pet stores to tell you what your water conditions are...they arent always honest and that way you know if anything goes wrong, what method you do to fix it...also get some prime or stress coat+ as daily water changes with one of those is always a first step to try to help the fishies...im thinking its in a mini cycle and you have some ammonia as staying at the top is usually a sign of needing air .....in a 15-16 gal tank, you have too many fish and its something water changes will help correct ...the new fish probably arent use to ammonia and the ones you have , are adjusted to it but it can be lethal after awile...goodluck! |

thanks, il let him know so we can fetch some kits. the mollies we have our huge at the moment we had to turn the bubbles down as they didnt like it and wouldnt settle, but today they seem really relaxed and still fat, it was only the black ones at the top but the really huge dalmations are there today, i didnt no if that was them getting ready to give birth, we only had them once before and they had babies but didnt realise she was pregnant as she hid all the time, thanks for that advice il try testing myself and more water changes, do you recommend anything i can put in the water?

prime or stress coat+ will detox the ammonia or nitrites for 24 hours until another water change would be due...its also a water conditioner for tap water..change out 30% and keep the temp the same as it is in the tank..cold water will shock them too much..im assuming its the cycle for now and until the kit rules it out, its safer to use the prime or stress coat+ ...it wont hurt anything only help

hi ive just spoken to my friend at the shop and she said she will test it for me for free then i buy a kit and the stuff for the tank ect, so it saves me a kit so i can test the water in a few days time after the changes to see how it goes with my own kit, il let you no how it goes hopefully i wont lose no more fish after this, my husband said its only in the day they stay at the top at night they stay at the bottom but the pregnant ones just sit on the bottom and dont move a great lot in the last few days that has bin, the belly has really rounded off today too he says is there any chance the babies will be ok?

most pet stores use test strips and they arent as reliable as the liquid master kit is...if its not completely cycled, it will be hard on all the fish not just the fry ...the prime or stresscoat+ will keep it safe for the fishies to breath in goodluck!

hi i went to the shop with some water, because the pregnant fish have bin pooing alot its caused my amonia levels to rise they said, the test said 3, which is bad so they gave me this thing that looks like a teabag that goes in my filter its supposed to stable pH levels and sort the nitrates out or something like that and a bottle of this amonia stuff to get rid of it, so fingers crossed

no she said i cant use that with the amonia remover, that takes 2 hours n it it supposed to put them back to 0, that other thing is a freshwater bag, the amonia will go in to nitrates or something like that and that bag is supposed to get rid of them, im going to get a good kit tonight, they only had them cheap strips, so il try somewhere else and see if i can get stresscoat from there

the prime or stress coat+ keeps the ammonia available for the cycle process but detoxifies it for the fish for 24 hours until your next change...the store is giving you false information what are the names of the products she sold you sam?

do you remember what the name was? sounds like some kind of ammonia removing chips...but again, you dont want to remove the ammonia, just detoxify it so the fish are safe..you need the ammonia for the cycle to continue and the water changes help keep it low as well as the prime keeps the fishies safe...they are just giving you all kinds of info arent they ...

yeh that was the make of it, interpet, she said it locks the amonia from rising up she wouldnt let me buy that stresscoat, i thought they were rude and that bag helps the water to go safe but i dont no, i hate fetching things like that, they never tell you straight what you need to no
