Agressive Molly

I have a male Black Molly that is bullying some of my other fish at feeding time.

He chases the Zebra Danios away from the the flakes at the top of the tank and even chases my male Platy away from those that float down to mid level.

Is this normal for all Mollies or is it just because he is a male?

My Neon Tetras rarely venture from the bottom of the tank. Is this normal behavior for them or is it a result of the Black Molly chasing their tank mates around?

I have some Cory Cats and a Pleco at the bottom of the tank whom he doesn't bother nor do they seem bothered by him, but I think the rest are a bit wary of him.

What to do?

1. male mollies can be quarrelsome among themselves and other fish and it usually depends on the fish's own personality.

2. If you have another tank, you can put him in there for a "time-out" rearrange tank decorations so all territory is neutralized, and then bring him back after around 3 days.

3. This behavior occurs often in male mollies.

4. Neons prefer the mid to lower sections of the tank

5. Just be aware of the common plecos eventual size over 1ft+ long. I'd like the Bristlenose pleco because they stay small and produce less waste than the common pleco
