| I need help with my Mollies please I first visited here a few months ago and you put me on the right track, so thank you for that. After all your help i still only ended up with 1 Mollie surving but i learnt from that. I learned how to check my water, and eventually got it right, but i didn't rush to buy more Mollies i wanted to wait to make sure everything was OK. So a week ago, after a month of checking and rechecking and my lone MR Moll thriving although he changed from a Dalmatian to all black. I decided to buy 3 females, there was a little aggression from him to start especially at feeding times, but they seemed to settle down. But tonight i found on of my females dead, im so upset im just wondering because he is quite aggressive if ive done the right thing. He does chase them, do you think stress caused her to die? there was no sign of disease. she was just at the bottom of the tank pointing straight down im worried for the other two can anybody give me any tips please thank you |

| My dalmation changed black too...
It could have been stress that did her in. Moving from breeder to store to your tank is a stressful process for the fish, and then having a male bully her adds to that. If he's still picking on them, I suggest putting him in a breeder net in the tank for a few days to a week so that they can all have time to calm down, and the females can sort of establish their territory. Good luck! |

| Sorry to hear that she didn't make it. Try rearranging the decorations and plants in the tank as well... sometimes that helps. But like pinkf said, put him in 'time out' for a few days... when you release him and he does it again send him back to 'time out'. |

| regarding the feeding... I give mine a variety of food - from the dried flakes to frozen blood worms to daphnia. They tummies are about as big as one of their eyes... so try and work out how much you can give them. If you feel you feed them too much only feed once a day but if you might think you giving too little feed them twice a day. |

| This is really great advice all of you
I would do the "time out" thing as instructed and also they need a variety of foods to keep them healthy because just like us humans they need a balanced diet

| Make sure to feed them lots of veggies... I gave mine algae wafers and peas. If you have an algae problem in your tank, don't feed the mollies for a few days and they'll eat the algae for you. |

| Oh thank you for that tip about the algae, i did give the bad boy a pea once a week but when i did it with the new guys in he wouldn't let them near it. Hes a bit better tempered today thanks again. |

| Hi, just thought i would give you an update. Things are settling down a bit, she still gets a bit of bulling, but not from him from the other female. Anyhow its seems to be calmer except at feeding times, then they are more like a pack of sharks lol I have another question, i got some frozen bloodworm's do i defrost them or feed frozen? there in little blocks. How much do i give them? and do i feed regular food at the same time thank you |

| Yes, you should thaw them first. Their stomachs are about the size of their eye, so feed according to that... You can have a regular feeding schedule, but it's not necessary. |

| Ah yes, I misread.
By regular food you mean the flakes? I'd just give them the bloodworms for that meal. |

| I always put my cube in a custard dish and add a bit of tank water over it. My tank is heated so the frozen cube melts in about 5 minutes. I stir it up and serve it up. It should keep in the fridge for a few days or you can throw it back in the freezer and "re-melt" it when you need it again.
I did hear that fish's stomachs are sensitive to cold food. Wonder how they figured that one out... asked the fish? |
