Not funny

My dalmatian molly had babies! That's not funny! I told my bf to get 2 females cos we don't have space for babies. We've had them for 3 months now... and guess what?!!... there is an explosion of mini mollies in my tank.

I know that guppy females can 'bank' sperm inside of them for months and impregnate them selfs if there are no males around.

Is that so with Mollies too?

I do not think that is the same with mollies isis. Just sell the babies for a few rant when the grow up.

oh yes! I will give them away if I have to hahaha! I'll make a deal with my fish store guy... I'll give him 13 mollies if he gives me a female betta

... do you think it's a good deal? I think it's a GREAT deal LOL!

I don't know much about live bearers. I think I read on here recently, that they could give birth to up to 6 months? yikes!
Not sure about that, though.

Swordtails and guppy's can hold sperm in them for 5-6 batches (6 months) but i dont know about molly's. You could have a male and female in there? i dont know. thats weird. i like the betta deal though

All live-bearing females (and a few cichlids) have the ability to store sperm up to 10 months, depending on the size of batches they have. They could pop out 1 at a time, or 20 at a time. I think the average is about 6 at once without a male present. With a male present the female could continuously have babies, and store sperm simultaneousely. So the length of time she could store it,wouldn't matter much.
