Sick Molly ?

I have a molly that appears to be doing a hand stand at the bottom of the tank. At first I thought he was feeding, but he is not taking in any food. His head is touching the ground and tail is pointing towards the surface. I have three other molly's in the tank that are always at the top of the tank (just below the surface of the water).

I have taken some reading today, they are as follows,

ammonia = 0
nitrite = 0.05
pH = 7 (Neutral)
Temp = 26 degrees

I have also added some salt to the tank today.

Any help or suggestions would be great

Re: Sick Molly ?

Do you have a test for Nitrates? If so what are the readings? Is sounds as if the tank is still finishing up cycling, since you have some Nitrites. As for the Mollies at the top, they are probably not getting enough oxygen. Try running an air stone in the tank. For now, just do a water change. See if that helps.

Re: Sick Molly ?

Hi Omorrokh, thanx for your advise. I can rule out the air stone cause I have a large under gravel one, which produce quite a bit of oxygen in the tank. However, I do not have a test kit for the Nitrates. I will go and buy one and take some readings and also do a water change, like you suggested. Thanx again, catcha ya
