Mollies - First births in my tank - Some important questions - helpp

Hello Everyone,

I am pretty beginner in this field.

Today morning, my molly gave birth to 12 babies

Now I need to know -

1) Whether I remove the molly in a new tank. Is it compulsory.
I have read that they eat their young. - Is it true if even if there is good amount of fish food.

2) There is a guppy also.

3) What do I feed that babies.

(so sorry for the post on the other fourm section)

if you want the fry, then I would buy a net or fry container that stays in the tank, but protects the fry. They aren't expensive. There is fry food you can buy too. Good luck, keep us posted

As long as you have enough plants and hiding places in your tank, your fry should be safe for the most part.. feeding them is as simple as crushing flakes up to an almost powdered form, which you toss in immediately after feeding the grownups, so while the bigger fish are occupied eating, the little ones can steal a chance and get their grub.. there's also a powdered food with extra vitamins etc. called 'First-Bites' which we've used successfully over the last several years in raising numerous batches of healthy fish which you may want to consider.

kraz - Thanks a lot.

Richard - Thanks to you also.

Sorry for the delay in replying here. Did reply on the other thread.

I tried to search around our area for the container none keep it.

Presently, I haven't put any pebbles or gravel in the tank.

Moved the mama molly and the guppy in a bowl at the moment.
The babies in the bigger tank.

I feed them flake food crushed. Haven't been able to clean the tank for 4 days. We don't have anything called Gravel pump in the local fish shops. (doh, sad isn't it) I need to find a good fish shop.

The babies are good at the moment. Enjoying their big tank.

I will keep you posted.

Hello,

Thanks all of your for replying.

I have a video I captured with my handycam of the birth. I will soon upload it.

by the way, now the babies are around 8 days old. Doing good.

Questions,

The babies are easily and freely roaming about, I am still giving them flake food powered, what do you think.

Also, some of the babies below their mouths on the stomach they have brown color gills or something which I cannot figure it out. Very reflective. Is it some disease or it's the babies / breed feature.

Thanks everyone. Very supportive.
