Question about my molly

hello all, been reading these post for the last month and figured it was about time i became a member, so my question (s) is i noticed today that my male molly (hes a yellow molly, idk what the proper name is) dorsal fin was standing straight up but then it went back down, he was swimming around with it up for about 10-20 seconds them he put it back down, is that just a form of "showing off" for my female molly? (black molly)
I also have 5 baby mollies swimming around in my tank, they have been in the same tank with all my other fish (1 female and male molly, mickey mouse platy, algea eater, and a spotted catfish) since they were born and the havent been eaten, there big enough now that the wont be eaten but my question is do i need to remove them from my tank so the male doesnt mate with them or is that ok? or will they just not do it?

thanks for the help, hope to hear back soon

HI SWANY, WELCOME TO FISHLORE !

You are right the male is showing off for the female.....

The only real problem with this male breeding the babies would be if he is their dad.....you can expect it will happen if they are kept together.

A 10 gallon tank is rather small for the fish you currently have. Hopefully you can get a bigger tank, and that would give you the smaller one for fry until you can find homes for them. Good Luck

O ok cool, so i was right. I know that my tank is to small and it was the right size until the babies came along, but i have been trying to get a new tank, like a 20 gallon but i live in a dorm so i only have room for a 20 gallon tall and i cant seem to find one (at least not yet) i would like to get a long one but theres just not enought room in here lol. but thank you for te help and no the babies are dalmation and i dont have any dalmations, but what would happen if the next batch of babies are his and he breeds with them? i know that weird but i dont really have anywhere to put the babies so what would happen if the dad did breed witht he babies?
