Hello and welcome to fishlore
Yes, as you thought your 30g is indeed over stocked with all those fish. I would do what I can asap. Do a water change asap. Then I would try and find homes for some of those fish, if you have no other tanks available. Im not one that usually recommends folks to give up their fish, but in this case... you need to do something quickly.
Some questions would be.. when was the last water change? How often and how much water do you take out at each water change? Have you had the water tested? Do you have your own water test? Is your tank cycled yet?
It sounds like they are gasping for air due to ammonia poisoning.Once we have more information on your tank we will be able to give you a hand...

I agree with Kate about the water change and finding homes for some of your fish.

I used the aquarium calculator and according to the dimensions it came to 23g.

Mollies 2" x 25=50
Angels 6" x 2=12
Plecos 18" x 1=18
I don't know how big shubunkins get.
That's at least 80" of fish.
The rule is 1" of fish per gallon depending on the species.

Also aren't shubunkins cold water fish, goldfish? I think that's what they are and need at least 10g a piece. The rest are tropical.

Welcome to Fishlore, good luck, you've come to the right place for help.

Hi Lucy
than that would make the tank that much smaller! I took the tank size off of the aquarium info posted under the screen name. Thanks for clearing that up!

Hi, Welcome to fishlore......have you started sorting this all out yet?

One thing it would help to do is go up to "Articles" at the top of this page, and read everything on setting up a tank for beginners, and the nitrogen cycle.

You may be able to get a new tank and split this crowd up. That would mean cycling two tanks, but it could be done....

Let us know how it goes...and Good Luck
