Is my black molly pregnant?

Hello

My female black molly looks pregnant. I think she's been pregnant while in the store. Now I noticed that her belly has gotten a little bigger, and she often lies down the gravel, probably because of the weight. She's doing fine, but my other fishes like to pick on her, so we bought a breeding box. Our Q-tank is currently unavailable for the pregnant molly because there are 3 fishes in there that might stress her to abort.

Here's some pics......sorry about the low quality.......just using a camera phone.......if you need more pics, you're very welcome to ask.

oh and as you can see my male molly is trying to break in the breeding box to get her. They are such prolific breeders!

Thanks in advance!

Lyndatu, I don't think you posted the pictures.

If she got excessively larger and the males are still trying to get at her I would say it is pregnancy. Mollies are almost as bad as guppies... sleep, eat, breed.

Good luck!

Whoops! Sorry!

Here are the pics.

Yup, the male is chasing her. In fact, everyone's chasing her: My male molly, male guppies, and even my new female dalmation molly. I think they're all trying to kill her; corner her then peck at her continuously. Poor molly. She can't be put in the main tank and the Q-tank because there are fishes in there, so we bought the box. If she's indeed pregnant, I hope they make it....the belly isn't that big though, but I think it's bigger than normal.

Pregnant Mollies

I am going through that now as well. I have 2 black girls that do everything together. I do have a seperate tank for moms to have babies in. I just moved 6 young fish now 3/4 of an inch into a 55 gal.(they are so lost) and the 2 moms to be are now in the 20 gal. birthing tank. It has lots of hiding places for the fry. I hope my 2 go together. My male will chase them for hours and I let them do their thing but now that I have one girl trying to hide and not eaating, the other is keeping the male away I decided to move them both. I thought they they were goning to have them about a week and a half ago. They are lots of fun and hearty fish. Have fun with them.

my black molly is pregnant too! And I only have a male and a female and the male is chasing her and being mean! my mom thinks its just because they want food when we feed them enough! And shehs not too big yet at all, but it is noticeable! When should I put her in the breeders box? Ive herd a little bit before or after 30 days.
