My Dalmation Molly had babies yesterday.... she's white with tons of black spots. The only other male in the tank is also a Dalmation Molly, more black than white... but all the babies are white.
Now for the stupid question.... Are they born white and then get their spots like the dog dalmations? or will they just be white mollies?
(now there is a possibility she was pregnant when I got her, so it could be a white daddy...)

There is the possibility of coloration change. I've never bred dalmation mollies, and Dino hasn't kept them in a long time, so we can't say for sure, but coloration changes are not unheard of in livebearer fry. (Much like guppies go from being transparentish to getting awesome color, in the better quality strains.) Let us know how it turns out, please.

So maybe it wasn't such a stupid question after all....

All of the babies who were all white when they were born are now showing color. Some have lots of black, some only a few black spots so far.

I'm still trying to get pictures, but for some reason I can't ever get them to come out clear and focused on the babies
