Molly trouble.

Hey, all.

Have been having some issues with our Mollies. In the past 2 weeks all but one of our mollies have died.

The Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate levels are all in the safe range. Is there anything else in our water that could be causing issues for our little buddies?

Are they new fish or have you introduced any new fish to the tank?

Are you on a municipality water supply rather than well-water? If so contact your local water office and ask for an analysis of water content. They can add chemicals to the water without informing you. A friend of ours lost over 500 bettas when their local water office added Zinc Orthophosphate to reharden the iron pipes. The chemical not only rehardens iron pipes, it melts the flesh off of freshwater fish. That is just an example.

Some were old and some were new Mollies. The 2 new mollies are the only fish I have added recently (3 days ago).

We haven't lost any fish since our Guppies passed until our mollies started dying. Every other species is doing great.

1 Silver, 1 Lyretail Silver, and 2 creamsicle lyretails so far. Hope the two left hang in there.

sometimes when adding new fish, they carry illness that your fish are not immune to, and it ends up with you losing some of your exsiting fish and having the new ones survive...

I hate when that happens... we just recently added at QT to our collection tank just because of that reason... but, oddly, even after quarantine they still introduce bad things that they are immune to and our fish arent... really stinks...

I am sorry that you lost your mollies... ... RIP
