question on stocking in molly tank

so I have a 10G tank, and what I think are 2 male dalmation mollies. They are the only fish in the tank. I read your article, and now think i made a mistake. The darker one (who is surely male) always bullies the lighter one. Do have any suggestions besides more hiding spots.
Thanks

Hi Tiff.

Under normal circumstances (and if you want molly fry), I'd agree with Callum's very good advice, but as it's a 10G, am thinking you don't have that much space for the fish.

Several males can work, but is more risky than male-female mixed, IMO. So the rule of thumb is:
- mixed gender: preferably 3 females per male. 2 is an absolute minimum
- same gender: preferably 4 fish. 3 is my personal minimum.

So if you have two males, you'd probably be better off getting another 2 males (rather than another 4 females) space-wise.

Could we have a few picture to make sure we can sex them properly for you? It would be silly to lead you in the wrong direction because one was a female or something.

i would say get 2 felmales OR bring back 1 male to your LPS and get 3 females. If i were you i would do my 2nd recommendation. If you dont use a breeder net and just let the females have the babies in the normal tank fry wont be a problem (they will be lunch for the other mollies )

Yeah, I agree, although the more females per male the better.

But I'd like to be really sure about the gender of the fish. If you get a chance, would be cool to see the pictures.
