3 mollie fit?

I have 2 mollies in a 10G with no other fish. I think they are both male, and I read that I should have at least 3 males so the bully isn't always picking. Can I have 2 mollies in a 10G?

What type of mollies? Three sailfins would be more than the tank could handle, whereas most any molly type other than sailfins would be alright to have 3.

Very good on your homework, you get an A+. It does work better to have multiple targets for the bullies.

type of molllie?

Actually I don't know what type of mollies they are. They are dalmation colored, but that's just coloring right? One has a very pretty tail that looks like an arch, and (he/she) has beautiful long hanging fins by the anal fin. The other has a large dorsal fin (sailfin, maybe). I bought them one at a time, from different stores, and they just said dalmation Mollies. I was so worried about cycling the tank right, and the water, that maybe I didn't pay enough attention to the species....or the sex. I really don't want to overstock, but I do want Cooper to stop being a such a bully. I'm really good on 30% weekly water changes and gravel vaccuming. Do you think I can fit a 3rd in my 10G?

I did some research

I think I have one short fin molly and one lyretail molly. I'm positive one is a boy, and I think one is a girl (I'll look when I get home)...didn't know how to tell until today. So maybe I need another female. What do I do if they breed? Where can I take the fry once they mature? Do the pet stores take them?

depending on your budget you have different options. you can either setup a 10g tank for them or put a breeding net in the tank you have now (that runs the risk of them getting out and gives them very little room so is a more temporary solution since they'll need room to grow.) for filtration, either a sponge filter or a regular filter with fish netting over the filter intake & held in place with a rubber band tightly wound would work. they'll need crushed food at first. we put food in a sandwich bag and crush it with a rolling pin, then put it in a little rubbermaid container to feed them a little bit of, 4 times a day at first, eventually going to 2 times a day.
You'd have to call your local stores to see what they'd say on taking fry.

I think you'd probably be able to fit one more. Having three of them should be fine (but no more than three).
