Horn Dog

OK, so I got this molly, he is a creamsicle lyre tail. He is a horn dog... and he actually horned my Dalmatian balloon molly to death. So now, my molly count is 3f to 2m... but he has since moved on to his next, well, should I say victim? Yet another Dalmatian, this one tho is not a balloon. It looked like he got a "piece" already but isn't stopping the chase... is he gonna give up, or what? Should I just take him out, separate him or something before he dogs her to death as well?

Re: Horn Dog

From my experience the boys are always after the girls. You might add plants or other hiding places in the tank to give more hiding places?

Re: Horn Dog

Well, I guess, he has had his fill.
He chased my other DM for a few hours, it looked like he got some, and then they just kinda stopped.
Today, they are paying each other no mind... so, I guess he was just in the mood.... really, really in the mood.
Maybe my BM was ill or stressed, or somethin, which contributed to her death.
Well, at least all is well again, in the livebearer tank... thank goodness!

Re: Horn Dog

Hi. A good way to stop the males harrassing a particular fish is .............. to add more females!

A good ratio is 1 male to every 3 or more females.

This will keep the male busy, ( and Happy ) and allows the females to get some rest between his advances.

Good Luck!
