Wow! What a beautiful tank!

I have just started a planted tank and can only dream to have it look that nice one day. I kill house plants too. They can't ask for water and I can't seem to remember to water them! Hopefully, since these are in water they will do better.

Do you have any problems with your Kuhlis digging up plants? I'd really like to get some in a few months. I have Fluorite Black and Fluorite Black Sand so, I'm hopping that would be good for the Kuhlis. Any advice would be appreciated.

One thing I have learned this year, if you can't raise houseplants, but are good with your FW aquariums you still have a shot at a planted tank...
Or so my luck has been. I will post a pic of my 29g planted, its really took hold and growing! I have baby plants in there already.
Give me a fern though its dead in 2 days.

I did well with my sons FW and then with my SW (except for the algae). I'm hoping it goes well. I'm kind of obsessive about checking my water parameters so, maybe that helps.

And on a side note I just learned how to qoute someone!yeah!

Thanks Candy I can't keep a house plant alive to save my life, so don't worry, yes, you still have a shot at keeping aquarium plants. My kuhli's don't dig up any plants. Your substrate will be perfect for a planted tank. To start, just stick with low light plants such as anubias, java fern, crypts, etc. and you shouldn't have much trouble getting it all started.

I am thinking that mine are a pair as well, though they are pretty tiny, so its to soon to tell for sure. They are beautiful little fish though and I love having them in my tank!

Thanks Shaina I haven't had any problems with the potting soil. Its organic, so there are no pesticides or anything that will harm the fish. The only thing it has done is make my plants grow like crazy, so, so far so good

Hi Kate
What an amazing difference in just two weeks of plant growth! You are doing something right there, my friend...

I definitely need to update this thread with more pics I cannot believe how quickly these plants are growing. Last night my sword plant literally great an inch in 8 hours! When I went to bed I looked at a new leaf that was a little over an inch beneath the surface. I woke up this morning, and it was touching the surface, lol!
