I didn't see a review on this product, so I thought I'd post my experience.
My female
betta, Calypso, experienced a change in behavior a few weeks ago. She began to spend fairly all of her time hiding, except when it was time to eat. That was one thing she did with a fair amount of gusto. Her previously bright maroon/ red fins started to fade in color as well. These were the only two symptoms she had that indicated anything was wrong at the time.
This went on for a couple weeks. Because I was unable to determine what the problem was, I was unwilling to medicate her; knowing that medications can be stressful. However, one week ago, I finally was able to get a good idea of what was going on with her; because I spied a tell-tale trail of stringy white poop hanging from her. Because of this, along with her color fading and hiding, I decided she must have internal parasites.
I first tried to get her to eat some medicated food, also made by Jungle, meant to eliminate internal parasites. She would have none of it though. Didn't matter if I chopped it, boiled it, pureed it, or covered it in hollandaise sauce. Flat out refused to eat it.
So I decided to give the fizz tabs (Parasite Clear) made by Jungle a try. The product claims to treat both internal and external parasites, and help revent secondary infections as well. While they are designed for 10 gallon tanks, the tablets actually break quite easily, if you break them along a counter edge or something else sharp enough. After breaking it to the proper size, I allowed it to dissolve in the tank.
Three days after beginning treatment, she was completely back to her old self. Her fins are back to their bright red color, and she has not spent one minute hiding.
I have to admit, I was not sure this medication would work so well for an internal parasite; but given that she improved almost overnight, I have to give it two thumbs up.
