As some of you know, we just went through a hurricane at the Mouse House. I was not there, but before I left I put one of these
http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...53043#prodTab1 on each of my tanks. The power went out at 2:00 AM Saturday morning and has not yet been restored. This afternoon was the first time someone was able to check on my fish (they're fine, thanks) and the air pumps were STILL RUNNING after 84 hours!
I highly recommend these little "life insurance" devices for your fish, especially if you live in an area that is prone to power outages.
Thanks!
Edit: Oh, these only come on when they detect a power outage (they plug into the wall). Then they shut off when the power is restored to save battery life. I can't tell you guys how pleased I am with these little purchases. For about $30 (and four D-cell batteries) I managed to keep two tanks of fish alive for three and a half days while the power was out!
