So this summer I did a bit of a trip through France. I spent a week just going to random places, and then I went to Lille and lived there for a month doing a study abroad program.
Anyways, one of my random stops was in the beautiful La Rochelle. Honestly, one of the prettiest cities I've been to. If I wasn't there alone, and didn't have to keep moving on, I would have spent many days there.
Anyways, they have an amazing aquarium there and I wanted to share the pictures with you guys, since we are all fishy lovers!
The tanks there were beautiful. They don't keep any mammals cause they admit that they don't have proper facilities to keep them. They do have a HUGE shark tank though. It is 2, or 3, stories tall and is right in the centre of the building, and the rest of the aquariums wrap around it, as you go up a gradual spiral.
They are for conservation, and have a breeding program for many endangered species. They also grow all their own coral so they won't destroy the wild reefs.
Breeding tanks (I think these are babies)
They also had turtles! Which were a huge hit for me. I managed to time my visit well, because I got to see most of the tanks during feeding time, always fun! Here were my favorite turtle photos (I took a bunch!)
Here are some more of my fave pics:
Potbellied Seahorses:
Upside Down Jellies
Can you see all the fish in this picture?
That is all of my faves, here is the full album if you want to see the rest:

I don't really know all the fish names, I just took pictures of the ones that interested me. Like one fish reminded me of my boyfriend! Lets just say he was a bit offended after.
I would recommend anybody to go here! Both the aquarium and the city are great!
Edit: I guess I'm only allowed 10 pictures, but you can still see all of them in the album! Cheers!
