| Ok, I can't help myself! You all got me started!
These are scans of old 35mm pics, so they aren't great.
Here are two when he was a pup. Tie dye in background is ME. Yes, this was a loooong time ago. cooperbaby1.jpgcooperbaby2.jpg
And here he is much later obsessively watching over my son when he was a baby. coopermatthew.jpg |

| Here's some pics of my dog Jeffrey and my cat Tokyo. They are best friends and it is so cute to watch them interact with eachother.
We got Jeffrey from the shelter last year, and before they brought him out to see us they told us that he was probably not adoptable and was not friendly and had a ton of aggression issues. Well they brought him out and he ran over to us looking like the happiest dog in the world and we fell in love with him. He stiffened up a little bit when I bent down to pet him, but he just seemed really scared to me....not aggressive. At first he had a few nervous issues (not wanting to walk through door ways, separation anxiety, etc) but over time he has become the most friendly sweet dog I ever could have asked for.
We got Tokyo as a kitten to be a companion for him when we aren't home. They love eachother and everything has worked out great Tokyo is very sweet, loves to be held, and is such a wonderful kitty. |

| MissMTS, they are both dolls.
My mom adopted a cat I had fostered - he matches her cream standard poodles and he loves the younger one. They play and chase and snuggle (well, mostly her snuggles he puppy). It's too cute. Last edited by Sharkitty; May 13th, 2009 at 02:00 PM.

They all get along great but is funny how their personalities are so different - Baby was alone after her 3yr old foster mum died of old age so I got the black female (Sooty) to keep her company but although Sooty was dying to make friends through the split cage Baby refused to accept her and remained extremely aggressive.
After a couple months I gave up and matched Sooty to 2 young females to keep her company. I went to the pet store and watched the gerbils for a while and picked out a submissive - but not a pushover - little girl from watching their behaviour, and tried her with baby, and she took to her instantly and they are inseparable now.
If you're interesting in keeping gerbil groups i've kept gerbils for over 10yrs and have in the past tried a few different colony situations but they almost always end up needing to be thinned out into smaller groups due to dominance issues as they get older. It all depends on the individuals, I had 1 group of 6 sisters which ended up having to be split into 3 pairs, but I also had a very successful group of females which lasted till the end. They were 2 sisters, and their 4 daughters (2 each) They had raised their daughters together which I think is why it worked.
Males (brothers) are the best option for a peaceful group, but i'd say max 4. Females are harder to keep in a group and are best in pairs. Last edited by Dojo; May 14th, 2009 at 12:35 AM.

Lol, wish I could, I would probably get evicted though | all-around best place ever to get them from. My grey cat (Muffy) wasn't 'planned' - I was there for an older cat to be a friend for my first cat, Izzy, who was getting lonely while I was at work all day. I was looking at an 8-year old tom, and the crazy kitten in the next cage kept reaching out and tapping me with her paw over and over and mewing really softly. I finally paid some attention to her...then asked to hold her....well it's now ten years later. She was an insane kitten - pulled wallpaper off the walls, drank from the bathtub, ate my plants, chewed on my shoes - but she really mellowed out as she grew up (sorta hoping that happens with Zoey...please please...) Muffy's in my lap purring right now |

I have always adopted the majority of my animals from shelters and it feels so good to give a home to an animal in need. The only thing that I hate about going to shelters is that it makes me so sad that there are so many animals there and that I cannot help them all. |

At least you saved these ones.' Gotta love mommy wisdom! |
