And a hamster. And 5 fish tanks.
Used to have a Pit Bull, but he passed last year. |

| We actually used to have more, back at my old house. Poeple would dump their feral cats. But they eventually all died of old age, FIV, etc. Now that we moved, we only have the 13 indoor cats. And I assure you everything I own is legal. |

| You're right! Looks like NY does not have a cat limit. That is a lot of cat energy in one house. I'm about to get a third (for the third time - other two died of FIP) and worried that no one will date me! |

I'd replace her with 2 sweet kittens. Who actually like us. lol
I've never had a baby kitty, always took in strays that were just under a year.
The plan was to get a baby and have 2 cats.....but.......I wouldn't trust Ellie with a kitten. | I always get a kick out of hearing about your cat..lol..I know It's rough for you but for some reason I find it hilarious that you have this cat that is a little ....Seriously hisses and spits..lol..That is crazy..I admire you for keeping instead of dumping her somewhere like most people would do...I always get this visual image of this cat holding you all hostage or something..lol.. |

| Haha, if they don't like my animals PLEASE DON'T date me!
If NYS had a cat limit...I think my mom & I'd be moving. No one can tell me how many cats I can own. That's ridiculous. I plan on opening an all breeds rescue & referral when I get older, I was raised with animals & they will always be a huge part of my life. |

| I'm totally on the "don't date me if you don't like animals" boat, but if I start dating a guy with a dog and cat we're going to have a zoo and a heck of a time finding a place to live . . . of course I suppose I'm looking for someone who can afford a house . . .
I foster for a shelter that does cats - lots of cats - and the occasional mini horse, dog, squirrel, bunny, etc. It started when the director had an interior design shop and someone showed her three tiny kittens that were going to be eutahnized unless someone took them. Now here we are 10 years and 6000 saves cats later. Moral of the story: go for it! |

When I moved in with my SO (jeeezzzz, 10 yrs ago) he had a cat, a nasty nasty cat. The first day I was there and moving things around, the cat was sleeping on the pillow beside the SO's pillow, the pillow that was to be mine (LOL). Knowing the cat was a beast, I gently picked up the pillow with the cat on it and gently tossed the cat off (i thought I was gentle anyway). The dirty piggy turned and hissed and hissed and hissed and hissed and hissed. I was terrified of the guy. Well, things finally settled down and we became friends. I knew I wasn't a sociopath when I was the one who had to bring him to vet to be euthanized and really cried over the old mean bugger.

| I'm pretty sure there is no legal limit on number of cats as long as they are all properly taken care of. Dogs on the other hand, different story, need a kennel license over a certain number (excluding puppies for a certain amount of time I believe)
My dog is a golden retriever named Buddy. He is huge and tops out at nearly 90lb (not fat!). His parent were from England and they breed them a little different over there, so that is why he is so large, blonde and curly. Should have seen his daddy. About 150lb of large male dog. for some reason I don't have a full body shot. He is sniffing Calli's towel at Christmas. Don't worry though, he is more wary of the hedgehogs than they are scared of him.
The horse's name is Puffin. I no longer have him due to a situation that requires me to use a lot of inappropriate language to describe. He was the love of my life and I miss him a lot. The picture of me riding was from my D-3 rating for Pony Club (long time ago but a nice picture)
My sister has two hedgehogs named Calli and Mazy. Can't say a whole lot about them other that I love them. They are a great choice for small animals if they are legal in your state. I don't have any recent pictures of them, only this old picture of Calli. She is bigger now. |

And the fat black cat is Angus. He was not quite two weeks old when we got him. the pound was going to put him to sleep because he couldn't feed himself so we took him. Name This Kitten
Then this is Collin and Angus. They really love each other. |

There's a common saying around here......"I go near the cat right now if I were you"
There's a neuron not quite sparking or something. lol
A few nights ago Ellie saw something on the back deck (or didn't...who knows lol)
I was watching and listening to her and knew she was fired up.
My husband comes in from the garage about that time.
I told him, I wouldn't go near the cat if I were you.
Now my husband has two options stepping over her or backing up, going up a set of stairs down the upstairs hall and coming down a second set of stairs that go down to the living room.
Well, guess what my husband chose to do.
Yep, he's got the scratches to prove it. |

I shouldn't laugh but I'm laughing so hard I'm tearing up..I can't imagine being stuck with a crazed cat..lol..Our 3 are bad enough when they get riled up...Some animals are just not "OK"..lol..I love it....Feel free to share any other stories, I LOVE LOVE THEM...You just brightened my day...It's sad that your husbands misfortune makes me happy..lol.. | The cat I referred to in the thread earlier used to hang out on the top of the fridge waiting for my SO to come home or just walk by... He (cat) would jump from the fridge and attack Dick. Attack to the point that Dick would have dozens of bandaids on his legs and arms. I tell you he was a mean big bully (and a lot of other words that aren't acceptable).

| my furry purry things Must say, I'm really enjoying this thread Most ppl I know around here have one maybe two animals. Nice to know there's more of us with multiple furry friends!
This is my Izzy, otherwise known as Pooka. She's 11 and comes from the humane society. I love her markings! izzy2.JPG izzy.JPG
This is Muffy, aka Muffinhead (never met a cat that didn't like a box...) Ten years old and also from the humane society. She's a sweetheart with me, an absolute doll - but ONLY with me. A real Jekyl and Hyde this one, she turns into a hissy spitty scratchy crazy thing whenever she gets scared. my muffy!.jpg muffy.JPG
This is my latest addition, Zoey, who is about a year old. She was given to me by a coworker who couldn't keep her. She's got tons of energy (appearances are deceiving), never shuts up (EVER!) and is all spirit and curiosity and craziness. Makes me laugh every day zoey.JPG
(...gotta get on photobucket...got more than five pics lol...) |

They are both ~2 years old (the golden girl in March, the little guy not til June) rescued mix breeds of indeterminate ancestry.
They are both cat-safe and we've considered adopting a cat as well...both my husband and I like cats as well, but I like to leave the option of adopting dogs that aren't cat safe so I don't think we will be going the cat route.
My parents still have my favorite cat in the world though, who is also fantastic around dogs. She's about 8 now I think. They live in the country and she's an outdoor cat there, but I think she would transition to living indoors well. If they ever let me I would bring her home in a heartbeat and let her live out her days indoors. She's gorgeous and SUCH a sweetheart...she's actually kind of dog-like in that she is very people oriented, but still definitely has a Queen Cat attitude. I'll try to remember to post a pic of her later. Last edited by Shaina; May 13th, 2009 at 11:57 AM.
