Sadly he didn't make it. My original frog is doing terrific. I've sterilized the 3g and will hopefully get another.

Hey, thanks for the info. That's not too much, I hungry for any thing I can learn about them. I moved the 1 ADF from a 1.5g to a 3g to finish out quarantine. He's not doing well, not eating, floating at the top all the time, I'm afraid he's infected with that horrid fungus. Ive read a couple of pretty complicated treatments, none of which is guaranteed to work.
Have you ever had one get sick like this? What did you do?
Oh he did eat a small peice of brine shrimp this morning. I got him frozen blood worms, but he hasn't touched it. I think I'm gonna lose the poor little guy. Any suggestions?

    Hi there,
I've had mine for about 6 months, and I think I've read just about every website about them. LOL I have 2 of them, Wayne and Daryl, in a 10 gallon tank with a female Betta. At the least they need a gallon per frog, but in my opinion that is small. Mine bounce around playfully and use the whole 10 gallons. As for 5 gallons, I think it depends on the shape of the tank.

I have a Betta in a hexagonal 5 gallon and I can't imagine a frog in that. They hang out mostly on the bottom and need more horizontal area as opposed to vertical room. If your 5 gallon is rectangular they may be comfortable in that because it's probably long, and that lets them go boing, boing back and forth. LOL And it wouldn't be too tall. Be careful with tall tanks...ADFs surface frequently for air and they aren't the greatest swimmers so a tall tank, I'd say over 12", could make it hard for them to reach the surface. They don't do well in current either, they're so small they just go tumbling in current, or even around really fast moving fish, so make sure your filter isn't too strong, or if it is, place it well over to one side.

Extremely important is the decorations and substrate you use. Their legs are *very* delicate and many people have had them get stuck under shifting rocks, driftwood, even large pieces of substrate. When they get stuck their leg will likely break, and they won't live with a broken limb, but at the least they will be stuck and can't surface air, in which case they will drown. And equally important is to completely cover the top, *completely*. The will escape out of the tiniest space and they will only live about 15 minutes out of the water. However, when completely covering the tank make sure you've not filled the tank to the top because they need to surface for air.

ADF's are most comfortable at night so be sure not to leave their light on too much. They are fairly adaptable with temperature. I live in Southern California so much of the time I keep them at room temperature which is in the mid-70s, and that's perfect for them. During the winter I put a heater in their tank, and the Betta likes that too.

There! More than you ever wanted to know! LOL Feel free to ask any questions, I'm happy to make sure that all ADF's are happy! Boing, boing, boing....

How long have you had your frogs? How many and what size tank?
I'm very new to them, I've had 1 for close to a month that's in a 5g and one in a Q tank for a couple of days.
