i actually used a 5\8" barbed end with a PVC adapter to run the hose to.... i think if you look closely youll see it in the pics..... im actually having alot of trouble with that design and air pockets in the lines..... im going to try i thinner version, with more sweeping turns..... just thought i should give yo the heads up.

Too, I have to say I've had my 155g up and running 24/7 for the past 9 years. I had an algae bloom once and I was not a happy camper. Then I found the Vortex Diatom Filter. A couple of months ago I bought the magnum HOB with a micron cartridge. Love them both. I have other filters I run full time. I use these every 10 days (established tanks) when I do my water changes.

Good afternoon. The water polishing is done using a special micron cartridge. It filters out much smaller particles that any other filter can trap (including canister, hang on backs, wet drys). Too with this type of filter you can add what is called diatom powder, this will even filter out some ammonia to a point, parasites and all kinds of cooties lol I highly recommend them. Diatom filter is another great one for the same thing. Diatom powder is actually called diatomaceous earth. It's especially great when you have multiple tanks.
