Thank you for helping me out.

I am 16, 150 pounds. For my 50 free, my last timed swim was a 25.8. That was last May I believe. Over summer I swam a 26-27 of the wall after practice. (didn't use a stop watch, just a small wrist watch) I haven't been timed on the 100 free in a very long time and I'm not sure what im at. It may have been a 58-59. It was such a long time ago, I don't think i can relate those times to how i swim now. I train about every other day because on my team it is "off-season waterpolo and not swim" We do mostly distance, 250's+. At the very end he might throw in 4, 25 sprints. We can't practice starts at where we swim, only a few times have I seen the blocks without the big security devices on them. We swim about 2500-3200 meters a day. I work out in the gym, ab machine, triceps, pecs, and all legs I work mainly.
I would say that my form as a freestyler is pretty good. I keep my body straight, I'm 6' and have a long reach, plus my kicks are very powerful. I never cross my hands across my body when pulling them down to my sides. I've had life gaurds and other swimmers analyize my stroke and they say they can't notice anything wrong. One said I don't reach out far enough with my left arm, but I believe I corrected that. I can do a 25 with no breath and a 50 with about 1-2 breaths.

Starting next week we have swim every day. But I don't feel as though it is enough, I want extra training after school also.

Hey Scatty, I saw that you are a swim coach. I just made the varsity team at my high school and I really want to win city or break a school record in either the 50 or 100 free. What workouts would benefit me most? I feel as though my coach does not help swimmers for their specific stroke and kind of just gives us a general workout consisting of swims that probably don't help out that much for sprinters.

Also, what can I do in the gym to help improve my time?
