    Hi Jess
I love your discus pictures. Wow they are stunning. I would love to keep them sometime but I have heard and read that they are very sensitive. Is that true? I also love your fish pond I want one so bad but we couldn't have one around here this is a cat neighbor hood. They are about 40 running around here. I believe the fish would become cat food...

I know I've had a similar issue with the discus. I just hope they work it out. I'm hoping to get a larger tank to give everyone more elbow room. But its going to be a while yet.

Oh Gosh, after all that Angel Mess, Sunshine is now the only LONE ANGEL all the other angels died. Whenever I walk up to the tank, Sunshine swims over an looks at me with big sad eyes and says, "Mom, where is everyone? i'm sooooo lonely!" but i don't dare add ANY fish to that tank, everyone is so territorial any new fish would be killed.

    Hi!

There's a place on Rt 34 that I believe does ponds. I plan to pick their brains and a couple of my fish books have pond information in it. Unfortunately, my neck of the woods grow "Connecticut potatoes" (rocks) so I will need that pick.

I've bought all my fish from PurrFect Pets. I like the store and I like working with Marc there. He's a Fishlorian and has a 120G Discus tank. The nicest, well informed fellow I've met. I lost another guppy - it goes with the territory. I love Discus but they would be too temperamental for me. How exciting that there may be a possible mating! The closest I get to Discus are Angels. I also rescued a betta from WalMart. He's loving his 10G tank. Nice to see his fins unclamped and swimming all around.

Sounds like you have a really nice tank. Thanks for getting back to me. Not many people around me are into fish. They are starting to look at me rather oddly when I start talking about behavior and how the cichlids color up. Have a great day - gots to go to work...Uggghhh

    Hi Jess,

We're practically neighbors! I'm about 25-30 minutes in Shelton. My son lives in Woodmont off Merwin Avenue. My dream would be to have a pond but I'll have to do the research between now and this coming spring so we know what we're doing. My hubby is not toooooo handy. I already planted a seed in my son's head letting him know we may need his help. Right now I'm in the process of winterizing my gardens (quite a few) and it's so much work! Cleaned all my 3 fish tanks this weekend - glad that's done! Had 3 of my new guppies, one platy and one cory die from ammonia poisoning and am keeping a eye on the tank to make sure I don't lose any more. The cichlid tank is faring better. Where do you buy your fish?

    Hi Jess,

I was looking at your profile and noticed the high 86 temp for your discus tank as well as the lower ph of 6.4. I assume thats on purpose. Is there another forum that you use for Discus? I actually just got back into having fish and looking into taking my 55g out of the storage and getting a mix of discus/angelfish.

    thank you
