I've done tons of reading on line. 86 is the higher temp. One can go higher if you're trying to get rid of ick. I like the idea of lower pH, it matches more the water quality discus come from. Many people say any ph is fine even up to 8. I disagree. Also the cardinals like the same ph as discus. They really work well together. With drift wood and bags of peat I accomplish a lower pH. I don't adjust with ph down stuff. Try to keep it natural and simple. So far its been good. So pull out those tanks and start setting up. : ) The wait to cycle a tank is bad enough.

    Hi Jess,

I was looking at your profile and noticed the high 86 temp for your discus tank as well as the lower ph of 6.4. I assume thats on purpose. Is there another forum that you use for Discus? I actually just got back into having fish and looking into taking my 55g out of the storage and getting a mix of discus/angelfish.

    thank you
