Yes, I do know that a koi in a 20g is too small. If you look at my profile, you'll see that he is now in a 29g with the goldfish (left over from when I first adopted the 20g). Still too small, but it's bigger and the right temperature.
On the flipside, a 200g isn't big enough for more than one koi, so he's still going to be alone until I can put a pond in.

Jess - I took a peek at your albumn. What beautiful pictures. I love your pond. Are you located in the South? I plant Elephant ears here in Connecticut but have to pull the bulbs out in the fall. We've always wanted to put a pond in the back hill behind our house. Nice job.

Thanks. It hasn't been fun! They are called camallanus worms and are fatal without levimisol, a medication we can't get here in Canada.
Thanks I love my cats, don't know what life is like without at least one in the house.

Heya. Nope, I actually don't have much in the way of pictures. I also don't have a koi pond. I bought my poor koi from Petsmart when I started keeping fish, and the guy at the store told me it would be okay to keep a koi in a 20g community tank. He's now in a 29g, and will be in a 200g once the RenFest season is over and I can get it from my friend.

oh sorry thats a bummer. I guess its common for that to happen. Sounds like the eggs need to be removed? I would want to see them raise offspring in the beginning, but I guess they don't always cooperate. Hope it works once you're settled. See you around : )

Unfortunately I've had to stop the breeding because I have to move. The two blue diamonds each paired up with a wild, and I'm sure I can get them to pair back up again once everything settles. I did get one successful spawn but had a few minor disasters (father eating all of the babies in sight, waterchange problem, etc) that ruined it.
