By their fins. If you look at the dorsal fin, you can see it almost comes up to a point towards the front so that it is almost triangular in shape. The tail is also very pointed and deeply forked. A female's fins are much more rounded and shorter. If you look at the pics in my album called (my fishies), the all black one and the all white one are males. The last pic of a white one with a few orange spots has much shorter and rounder fins, that one is a female. The three pics of orange goldies, the one in the middle is a female - she has two white vertical bars that come up from her belly. Then on either side of her are two pics of my orange male that has a very deeply split tail. He is all orange, but it looks like his tail was dipped in white paint (or bleach) where it turns white on the back half. Those are fairly good pics to show the difference in the fins between the male and the female. Every one of those goldfish started out as feeder fish from either WalMart or PetsMart.

Fresg delcia is a 'jelly' food made by tetra. It comes in sachets, and you can squeeze the sachets. It floats in the manner of flake food (float, after about a minute sink), and is really easy for fish to eat. It's great for carnivores hatchets because it's so easy to eat, and you can distribute it all over the tank. It's also fun 'hand feeding' the fish!

A 20gal tank with a few corys would easily fit 8 hatchets in. Hatchets do like floating plants - lives are really best because, well, since when was the last time you saw a plastic floating plkant? Hornwort (it can be grown floating or in substrate) is an excellent hatchet plant.

No problem! You can use both... You can use Prime to condition the tap water and the fish protector in a smaller amount just to help the fish out

yes, fish protector is the nme of the product. It conditions water, calms fishes, and reduces stress, Also prime is a water conditioner that protects fishes form chlorine, chloramines and heavy metals, also detoxifying ammonia, nitrite and nitrates for 24 hours.

Good Luck with everything and keep me in touch.
