Just replying from your previous post "The more ammonia that your fish produce, the more nitrate you end up with. So having a large waste producer like a Pleco will lead to a large amount of ammonia, turning into a large amount of nitrite, turning into a large amount of nitrate.

In theory your ammonia could be higher than your nitrite level. There may not be enough ammonia eating bacteria to convert all of the ammonia into nitrites, just as apparently you don't have enough nitrite eating bacteria to convert all of the nitrites into nitrates. You obvilosly have nitrite eating bacteria in there since you have high nitrates, but there just isn't enough to keep up."

Had a couple of questions. Doesn't high ammonia eventually lead to nitrites then to nitrates? So if my nitrite level is "0" in theory my water should be free from high ammonia correct being my nitrates are sorta high? What do you suggest I do? According from fishlore.com I should do more partial water changes and or put a live plant in my tank? Lastly you state I dont have enough nitrite eating bacteria. Wouldn't that mean my tank is not cycled? I've had this tank for about 6 months and its previously used so it has all the beneficial bacteria in it.

I'm with you on the decorations outside that is why I don't do the outside just the inside plus I'm scared of heights so no way that I'm getting on a latter or on top of the house. If I do put up the lights outside I do it while it is still warm just don't turn them on until closer to Christmas. But when they get taken down my husband has that wonderful job because I just can't stand the cold. It doesn't bother him to bad. It was good talking to you again hope you had a great day. Talk to you later. Bye
