first off, im sorry about your loss for some reason you have started a mini cycle ...has something changed ...and anytime you get ammonia or nitrite readings, no matter the cause, you did correct by doing water changes...lemme know how things are going when you get the chance !

Shawnie Last night in our cichlid tank we noticed all our fish at the top gasping for air. I tested the water and all of the sudden we noticed a huge nitrite spike. do you have any idea what could cause this?? we lost 4 fish last night. I did an 80% water change last night. Today it has spiked again. This tank has been cycled since March.
