I usually get 8, and QT them for 2 weeks, then add at the end, then another 2 the next day, then 2 more the day after and so on. You have to be very careful, but its better than never acctualy getting to 8 hatchets because you lose them all the time!

    Hatchet,

I know that when I start adding fish to my aquarium, I need to not add too many so that I don't throw it into a mini cycle. I wouldn't normally consider putting 8 fish in at once, but do I need to put my school of hatchets in at the same time so that they don't jump out? Or should I put them in 4 at a time since they're relatively small? If I put them in separately, how long should I wait in between the groups? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey hatchethaven...I'm going to be establishing a tank and would LOVE to have hatchets. I've read a bunch of your posts with pointers, but I'd really appreciate if you'd check out my thread and give my some pointers on the tank mates that I'm considering. As an update to what's on there already, the kissing gourami won't be moving to the new tank, I'm finding a new home for her, so she won't have hatchet snacks! Only my powder blue and swordtail will be moving...everything else is up for debate. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: sorry, here's the link http://www.fishlore.com/fishforum/me...-new-tank.html
