I spent a few holidays in Lake Villa. That was where my college boyfriend lived. I distinctly recall spending one New Year's Eve standing ON a swamp while he and his friends set off firecrackers and thinking "please let them ask me to get beers so I can go back in the house!"

Yes, Texans are much friendlier than northerners until they get in traffic. Then you need an extra hand just for rude gestures!

If you live in Keller, we won't exactly be neighbors, but we'll be sharing an airport. Wills Point is about 20-30 miles east of Terrell, if you know where that is. I think it's out on 80, not too far from Canton. I don't really know the area, either, but I've looked at a few maps.

Thank you, for the kind words, biscotti. It is tough for us yankee gals to adjust to this southern weather. I was born in Indiana, but my mother immigrated to Chicago and grew up there. I actually consider Tulsa to be "home." I can't wait to move a little further north. Our favorite house so far is in Wills Point - about an hour east of Dallas. Dry heat sounds wonderful to me. I've had all the humidity I wish to have in the 16 years I've been down here! You will definitely love the winters. I've spent a few Christmases NW of Chicago and I am not cut out for that either!

I am going to post some pictures of the damage to my yard, although I didn't really get any good ones. I am still stunned at how much chaos was caused by a mere category two storm!
