This has a "cookie cutter" area which may help you stock your 55G tank:

Cichlid Forum is an informative site, specifically designed for cichlid info.
Just to let you know, if you post with them, some of the folks on that forum are a bit radical, don't let them get to you.
I like that site especially for the "library" section for references and "profiles" for the fish.

in a nice 10 gallon, I would probably just get any small 3 corydoras catfish, some may not seem all that pretty at first, but they definitely grow on you, lol.

Aim for a total length of 2.5 inches or so, that should work nicely.

how high do you have the temperatures for your goldfish? they're coldwater so if the tank is higher than 72 or so it won't be as healthy for them long term

hi for a 29 with goldies i'd probably go with some kind of shrimp, most other bottom feeders i can think of are tropical (otos, kuhlis, cories) that sort of thing, the only other coldwater bottom feeders that i know of are dojo or weather loaches, but they get too big for your 29 and need to be in groups.

a 10 gallon is probably too small for a BN pleco considering that it has such a small footprint, but you might be able to get a clown pleco (they stay a little smaller)
