Re: Noobie's Rig

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but a 10 gallon tank is much too small for the fish you have. The general rule of thumb is 1 gallon per 1 inch of adult-sized fish.

4 tiger barbs x 3 inches = 12 inches
2 tinfoil barbs x 13 inches = 26 inches
1 redtail shark x 6 inches = 6 inches

That brings you to 44 inches in a 10 gallon tank.

A lot of people aren't aware of how big tinfoil barbs can get (I didn't know until I read about it here!). They really need a minimum of 75 gallons.

Re: Noobie's Rig

welcome to the fun world of fish keeping.. get ready to be infected with MTS (multiple tank syndrome).. Bonochick is right about the size of the fish that you have.. would you be able to get a larger tank for them? they wouldn't need to go in right now, so you could take the time to cycle a bigger tank for some of the fish to go in.. like perhaps the tinfoil barbs and the shark? I think you could get away with the tiger barbs in a 10g. it's a little over but close enough if you keep up with partial water changes and water testing.
