Re: timg's aquariums
that's really cute.. she's in little girl heaven with all those baby fish. i think more than a few breeders could learn from your setup, it certainly seems to be received well by quite a variety of fish.

Re: timg's aquariums
We have a new addition to our collection today. This very unusual fish was found in one of our local stores and we just couldn't resist him! It is apparently a rainbow carp, I'm not sure. The finnage is so beautiful and his colours so different, he has made a fantastic addition to our large tank.

Re: timg's aquariums
It's angels this time!
All three pairs have laid eggs in the last three days, so now I've got an angel factory!
The first batch has just started wriggling today. They are in the blue food tub, the other two lots are in the glasses. I have left half of the eggs with the parents, to give them the chance to raise, if they choose. The first pair have already eaten their half! The second pair is tending at the moment, as is the third pair. I am trying three different methods this time, first, distilled water and blue, second, distilled water only, third, tank water and blue. I need to find the best method that will produce the best result, and this is a good way of finding out!
In the breeder itself, swimming amongst the tubs and glasses are three remaining angel fry from the previous try, and about a dozen of the smallest dwarf gourami fry, caught yesterday from the gourami breeding tank. The other 30 odd larger ones went into another tank where there is more room. The gouramis are busy producing again now!

Tim I think you're going to get to be the single most prolific poster in the fry picture gallery!
Congrats on the new fry!

Re: timg's aquariums
Oh, I forgot.... The aquaponics garden has become a fry growing out system as well now! I was so desperate for somewhere to put the fry, I thought it would be a good temporary location for them. It has turned out to be the best possible location and their growth has exploded! It must be the infusoria in there!

Re: timg's aquariums
It's the best nitrate filter that I've come across yet! It keeps my nitrates down in close to 200 gallons of tanks, and now helps with fry as well!

Re: timg's aquariums
you should start a lfs...at the rate your going, you would probably double your income...and get to work with more fish

If I could raise the finance, it really would be an option, even though I'm conerned that commercialism would take the edge of inginuity away....

Re: timg's aquariums
yeah...but i visited a small store in colorado, the guy had maybe 25 fw tanks, 5 sw tanks and a couple tanks w/ plants
he treated them like his own tanks...
i think if you kept it small, and you really care for fish (which i know you do) it would be a great way to merge your hobby and living

Re: timg's aquariums
I would leave the breeding tanks in the showroom too... people could actually watch the babies growing up then! Never seen that in a pet shop!
