Didn't want to put TOO many pictures in first post. Here are my Ghost cats, Bob and steve. Below that is my Silver dollar, Chad (and his reflection LOL). Below that is my other silver dollar Tad.
My NEW platys!! They have ammonia poisoning! YAY! Got them from the pet store and when I got home they looked like they had red gills. I checked the water they came home in, the ammonia was at 4.0.
Hopefully they recover ok. First pic-Gold twinbar-female-Brenda. Second pic-Red mickey mouse-female-Bonnie. Third pic-red platy-male-Yau-man (pronounced yow-man).
I love the platys.. great rescue & i bet you'll get them all good. btw: love those ghost cats.. gotta get some of those one day. how do they act compared to corys?
Yesterday all of the platys were hiding in the corner... but today they are doing great. Eating, playing, swimming. I'm sure getting out of those conditions made them happy. I got them at PetSmart, because any LPS here are absolutely HORRIBLE. Worse than PetCo or PetSmart. I at first thought it was coloring on the fish, until I got home and tested their water. The ghost cats are amazing. First off, obviously, they are a see-thru blue color when veiwed in the correct light. The way they go up to the top and use their little antennae to find the food, its sooo cool. However, they absolutely WILL NOT come out in the daytime, (this is what they do in the wild as well), the lights have to be dim for them to come out. Its a good idea to have a good hideout for them because they get very stressed if they do not have one in the daytime. anyway, enough rambling about my ghost cats, but they are really great!

True.. i call the petco here our only choice because there is a LFS here but it's just too bad to even go into. I've not seen ghost cats at Petcos though, so when we can have a tank for them, we'll have to go to another city for petsmart or order them online. They are definitely on our MTS list. Glad the rescued platys are doing great - they're pretty tough little fish and we love ours. Have you posted pics of the new additions in their tank?
No I haven't yet. Will try to take some tomorrow. They certainly add some color to my tank, exactly what I wanted. The Gold twinbar has much better color than that pic, it really washes her out. Here is a pic of the tank they live in:
I love the gold twinbars, but i guess it's because Daisy really won us over with her funny behavior and her little fry. I can tell from the pic that yours has some beautiful coloring in her top fin.
Well, we are getting a 29 gallon tank on Saturday, going tomorrow to pick out gravel/decor. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what to put in it, fish wise Thinking of Marble hatchets, they are real cool, but not 100% sure. Plus, we would still need more fish after that ! Hope all is well,

It is going to be my sisters tank, she wants something that won't eat her ghost shrimp. I am just "advising" what fish she would like. I am actually planning on setting up a 5 gal tank for a dwarf puff later this year. Brianna
We are going to get Hatchetfish, platies, and a few mollies. Just picked up a rubber lip pleco because the algea in my 35 gal is out of control! I've read people complaining how shy and bad algae eaters they are but mine is great! Brianna
forgot to note! I think my twinbar female is pregnant! Shes got a pink "pouch" in her belly with lil black type things!
sounds like you'll be getting plenty of fry. i think you read what we did with ours if you want to go that route. are you planning on trying to get as many as possible?

should be able to cycle quickly if you run the new filter in the old tank, or do what i did, use the old filter in the new tank and the new filter in the old tank. the gravel should hold enough bacteria to keep balance when you remove the old filter, and the used filter will contain enough bacteria to hold up the new tank. am i making sense or just rambling as usual?!

Ok well instead of two 5 gallons, I think one 20 gallon would fit perfectly for the space I have in mind. I am also considering a male betta vs. a female. We will find out when i pick one out. Anyway please tell me how this sounds as far as fish go.
Divided in half, each half 10 gallons. In side one, 1 dwarf puffer, 3 kuhli loaches. In side two: One betta, 3 dwarf loaches. will have lots of plants, hideouts, good filtration, heat, etc. Will have a nice light sand substrate and live plants. Please let me know if this would be a good set up. No rush as It will be a couple of months before I can get the tank, i am still fluctuating as to what tank to get but I am pretty set on a 20 gallon. It allows me much more room for fish! I've got MTS and MFS! LOL
