Ok, I recently revised the character limit for signatures. It is now 250 characters. I got tired of scrolling through some of the longer posts and the sigs were getting out of hand.

Here's the idea: Each member (that wants to) creates a post under this board listing what's in their aquarium(s). Then link to your post on this board in your signature. Then, if someones interested in seeing what you're keeping nowadays they can click the link in your sig and read about your aquarium.This way, you can write all ya want about your tanks and people can ask questions about them too. Kinda like a mini-blog of your tank(s). Please keep your tanks in the same post and include your username in the TITLE of the post - something like "Mike's Aquariums" or similar.

Here is how to structure a link in your signature to point to your aquarium post (copy and paste the code below):

Code:
[vrl=http://www.fishlore.com]My Fish and Aquariums[/vrl]
Replace the "vrl" in the code brackets with "url" in the two places within the code brackets. After the "url=", replace "http://www.fishlore.com" with the link to your post.

For example:
Code:
[vrl=http://www.fishlore.com/Forum/130-members-fish-tanks/mikes-aquariums.0.html]Mike's Aquariums[/vrl]
Remember to replace the "vrl" with "url". I had to use "vrl" to show the code, otherwise it would have created a link instead.

To change your signature:
Click the Profile button above, then click on "Forum Profile Information" and plug in the above code in the signature box.

Thanks Mike, I was considering turning sigs off, not anymore. Excellent.

Thanks Mike! This gives everyone the oportunity to show off their pride and joy, challenges and successes. Linking to the member's profile is so much better than lengthy sigs!

Re: Read First - Directions

Hi Mike

Any chance of the code not counting towards the character count? So that the URL address wouldn't be counted, but just the text that says 'my tanks' or whatever? Otherwise, the count is very easily reached unfortunately.
