Eclipse 6 gallon NEW!

Well as you all may have read, my six gallon tank (the Eclipse system six), was home to a three julies. Well that was a stupid idea. I thought that I could keep them in my tank, but I was mistaken. So I took the three guys back to my LFS and got back credit.

So while I was there I picked up:
3 Endlers (2 males, 1 female)
1 Dwarf Flame Honey Gourami
1 Whiskers shrimp

My tank is pretty much bare. I have one cave for the shrimp and not much else. I think that I might put some more community fish in my tank, that are small of course. I am not super worried about having alot of fish in this tank because I have a improvised filter set up, with an amonia reducer.

So all that my tank has in it are:

live sand, and a few rocks
The light is the stock light (Eclipse Natural Daylight F8/T5. 120 VAC, 60Hz
0.16 Amps) , and the heater and filter work fine.

Any comments would be great and I will have pictures posted shortly.

One question I have though, is about live plants.

Has anyone out there had an eclipse 6 gallon with live plants? Or dose anyone know how I could get live plants and what I need to buy? (Co2, new lights?)

Also I have a pretty high pH, like at least 7.6 but it is stable so most fish adapt well.

Any first timer plants would be great too!

Thanks for any posts!

Hi Dylan,
I don't know about plants, but there have been a lot of really good threads about them recently, so you should search around the forum a bit.

Endlers, like guppies, are prolific breeders. I am concerned that your males will harass your female too much. Also, what would you do with all the little fry? Do you think you'll want to raise them, or just let nature take its course? If I were you, I would take the girl back for another boy endler.

After that, I think you're pretty well stocked. Do you have pictures? I'd love to see your gourami.

im confused LOL (which is nothing new) you have live sand in a FW tropical tank? did the new fish go in with the live sand? or did you also start a SW setup?

Don't feel bad Shawnie, I am confused by the Live Sand also.

Additionally, I am concerned that a 6 gallon tank is too small for the fish that are in it. (Mostly the Dwarf Gourami...is a 6 large enough? Will he become agressive due to over crowding?).

I'm not sure I understand the filter set-up competely, but excess ammonia can lead to excess nitrates, so it would be a good idea to keep an eye on your nitrate levels.

Good luck!

well I wasnt going to mention the gourami in a 6g tank if he has 2 different tanks going...he wont be able to live in a 6 g..but again, maybe hes got 2 tanks ?

He has 3 tanks, I think. I just assumed once the fish got bigger, he'd shuffle them around for a better fit - he's got a 35 gallon community tank.

Okay here is some clarification.

I is not live sand. (My Bad)

There is only one tank

I plan on keeping the gourami in that tank unless he gets too agressive, then I will move him to a bigger tank.

The amonia reducer is made by aqua clear. Basically I am using the aqua clear filter media.

Keep in mind, that the biggest thing in there is shrimp and he is about 1.5 inches long.

The gourami is about 1 inch and the endlers are about .85 inches

I will probably add more fish to the tank. I keep up on regular water changes and I will pick fish that will be fine with the others. I decided to go with fake plants and I put 6 small plants in the tank.

Im not quite sure about the future fish for that tank.

I hope to add pics asap

Thanks, and sorry for the confusion.
