Thanks, everyone!
This was actually the first time I put the canopy on top for the "photo shoot" after a
water change and arranging the plants. I'm sure it will be all thrashed around by the next water change. I've learned to pick the tougher and/or less tasty looking plants so they don't get completely torn apart, though. I wish I was better with my camera--it's hard getting the lighting right and even harder to get my fish to pose.
My boyfriend has a 29gal community tank in the back of the room. He got some feeder goldfish to cycle it, and that's how I ended up adopting them all into my tank. As for my next projects, I'm thinking about a container pond of some sort to house some of my fish. My original goldfish are a mix of fancy kinds, and they are sooo pretty viewed from top. They are kinda goofy with their side views, but that's why I like them. Unfortunately, I can't build an outdoor pond on my property, so the koi's future remains uncertain.
I get a lot of pleasure out of taking care of my fish--I didn't know goldfish (and koi, a mischievouse teenager like my son) could be so lovable. Thank you again for your kind comments and letting me share!
