yukoandk's goldfish tank is cycled, pheww!

About six month ago, I found my old 6gal eclipse tank in the basement and casually decided to put some fish in it. That's how it all started...this life of fish keeping...

My original five goldfish have made the gradual move to a new 55gal, and the tank has finally finished the cycle last week. Yes, there are a lot of fish in it, yes, even a koi. But for now their new home is stable, and I have a little time to sit and enjoy watching them between my water changes all the while I contemplate on the next project. My son thinks I've gone nuts.

Thank you all for the comprehensive, interactive and fun forum!

Hi Welcome to FishLore
We're glad you're enjoying the forum. Your tank is gorgeous! Are you planning to move your goldies to a pond when they start to get bigger?

Beautiful fish, and so is your tank, it looks pristine ! Also love the way you have it set up, very natural and peaceful !

I too enjoy watching my goldies, sometimes I sit there for hours.

Beautiful and lovable tank! Nice job! I can't agree less on what everyone has said. Also, I see another tank in the background of the 1st photo. IS that another tank?

Thanks, everyone!

This was actually the first time I put the canopy on top for the "photo shoot" after a water change and arranging the plants. I'm sure it will be all thrashed around by the next water change. I've learned to pick the tougher and/or less tasty looking plants so they don't get completely torn apart, though. I wish I was better with my camera--it's hard getting the lighting right and even harder to get my fish to pose.

My boyfriend has a 29gal community tank in the back of the room. He got some feeder goldfish to cycle it, and that's how I ended up adopting them all into my tank. As for my next projects, I'm thinking about a container pond of some sort to house some of my fish. My original goldfish are a mix of fancy kinds, and they are sooo pretty viewed from top. They are kinda goofy with their side views, but that's why I like them. Unfortunately, I can't build an outdoor pond on my property, so the koi's future remains uncertain.

I get a lot of pleasure out of taking care of my fish--I didn't know goldfish (and koi, a mischievouse teenager like my son) could be so lovable. Thank you again for your kind comments and letting me share!
