Finally done!

I've finally completed decorating my 55 gallon. As some may know, I switched from planted to plastic plants (because my real plants were slowly dying).

I stopped by my local fish store yesterday and saw this huge sunken ship that I thought would look perfect in my tank (I love sunken ship decor) so I managed to buy it but discovered that they charged it differently for each half of the ship, so I just picked out the front half because I couldn't afford the back half. Shopping for plants already made me tired, I still had to clean the decorations and remove the driftwood and some of the dying plants from my tank. I also took the chance to do a 50% water change because one of my new Glowlight tetras suddenly died without warning (water parameters were fine!). All in all, I completed the water change, cleaning and sterilizing the decorations, moved and placed back the driftwood, etc in 2 hours! Phew... I'm tired!

So now, my tank looks great and such a big difference from an empty bare tank to a tank filled with a sunken ship, some driftwood, silk & plastic plants, rocks, java moss and happy fishes, I'm happy too! My fishies also enjoy their new sunken ship, they play hide & seek in the holes of the ship. It's so cool!

Next tasks: I have to build a shelf for my overhead filter because right now it just sits on my tank top and looks horrible! So hopefully I can get that done as soon as possible and leave my lil' fishies in peace

Sorry about so much reading! Comments and critics are welcome!

P.S pictures below show from the very beginning of the tank until the end. Note that the last picture, the water is only half filled. Forgive me, I haven't completely finished, still have the filter to do.

Thanks everyone! Glad to show it. I'll be posting some more photos after I get some more plants and fish (the work doesn't end here )

I designed it myself with some help and ideas from my mom. All sweat and $$$ into this tank I was actually sick the day I put in the sunken ship and the plants, so I nearly fainted at some point. But I guess I can say it was worth it!

Hmm... I wouldn't know about your place because I live at the other side of the world from the states. Well, in my opinion, I'd rather buy my own tank. Building your own tank can be really tricky because you'll need to spend cash on the glass, building the stand, etc... Here in my country, people rather buy a new tank. I'm not sure about your country. Ask around and see

Fish in malaysia are really cheap, but the equipments are really expensive.

I was born there

A 2 inch goldfish cost like 5 bucks here and in malaysia like a 4 or 5 inch would be like 10 ringgit (around $3)
