| Just Finished Aquascaping Okay so I decided to attempt some aquascaping, and it came out great. I think I found what my tank was missing. I hope no poop gets into the little crevices of the stacked up rocks. I used normal ocean rocks and rocks you can easily pick up at a crystal selling place. I got some little red, pink, white, and some black polished rocks. I also got this big rock replacing a lot of sand for 2$. I moved some plants and cut what I think is a fern to plant and make more plants! I also tried that with my another plant. This would be less confusing if i knew some names but I don't. I am apologizing now for bad image quality. MY borther doesn't lend me the camera because I am there for a long time trying o get good shots but I will get some as soon as possible. So what do you think? Last edited by Time; September 2nd, 2009 at 04:32 AM.

| Okay maybe I didn't finish but I will post a picture in a sec. Please give your suggestions. It looks really neat in person. I will get HQ images today in a few hours. I hope you all like it but I need suggestions more than complements. Last edited by Time; September 1st, 2009 at 05:20 AM.

| I like it! Very creative. The only suggestion I could offer is more plants.
Hope this helps! |

| It looks great! Yeah, more plants but in time. Let your plants take a rest for a few days then you can add more plants. Keep us updated! |

| Agreed! where to put the plants? I am thinking of filling up more of the spaces between the rocks with little polished rocks and plants. I hope fish poo and food doesn't get stuck in there. I was thinking of adding more rocks but I ran out. Some hardware store sells incredibly beautiful big river rocks that would do great. |

| I am trying to do it with this plant I have that I don't really have to buy. I already had triple of what I started with! I will see what I can get for the back. Any suggestion? I was thinking of ferns. The fish store gives you a free plant with the purchase of a fish! |

| Hey doesn't java moss grow quick and a lot. Yeah I am going to buy some today, they are open until really late. I really need some if I want to add more rocks. I wish I had room for driftwood. I bet the java moss will look great on my log decoration. |

| Java moss sneaks up on you....it grows slow....but then all of a sudden you notice how much you have.....lol. Leave room for your plants to grow the Vals?? will send out runners after it is established. Java moss is the best super plant for babies....they hide and graze in it safely. My little dwarf cichlid babies always hang out in it feeding and resting. The moss is usually a bit $$ for the sizes you get and takes a while to get going. |

| Cool! I bought a java moss bag for about $1 here and just placed it near my driftwood. Haven't seen it growing yet but it looks cool. I might get somemore soon. Java moss is great for covering foreground, so it should look good in your tank, Time Keeper |

| I stuck it in the spaces between the rocks. My plants have space to grow I just moved some rocks around. The java moss looks great! I got it for free with the purchase of a neon tetra! I plan on getting more along with more rocks. I will go to the beach or river if I can for free rocks and maybe I can find some driftwood. I have seen some but it was literally tree sized. |

| I think maybe 3 ruffle swords would look great along the back of your aquarium and maybe a large rock or ornament at the right. Otherwise it's going great.
Heres a link about the ruffle swords: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/my...n_crispus.html |

| Oh the right is reserved for my really fast growing plant. It grows pretty fast and I cut off a "limb" and plant it somewhere else to multiply my plants. I am working on more rocks I will pick some up from the garden. Castle ruins in the right anyone? I want to stick to nature. |

| Update: I did some moving, got more rocks, spread the java moss, and reorganized the rocks. I am working on two stacks of rocks, left and right. I gave the plants more growing space and now it looks even more like plants are growing out of rocks. Now I have a whole buch of rocks and reorganized so it looks nothing like my previous pics. |

| Thank you! I needed something like that. So my water finally cleared and my cichild likes the moss. I plan on getting more soon. I just can't wait one month for the moss to triple but I will double it. I will stick to this layout type. Here are some update pictures I know you all love that: Last edited by Time; September 2nd, 2009 at 04:29 AM.

| Feels like your in the tank in the above doesn't it. The water is really clear so that helps give it that feeling. Lol I should have cleaned the glass it is noticeably "dirty". More pictures: Last edited by Time; September 2nd, 2009 at 04:31 AM.

| Hello TimeKeeper. I think you're doing a fine job. Personally I'm a big fan of adding plain, not painted or glazed, terracotta pots or terracotta ornaments to the tank. They come in all shapes and sizes and in the form of many different things. I have a terracotta snail, pots, columns and I even have terracotta fish hanging on my wall. Not only are they appeasing to the eye but great for the biological aspects of the tank since they are porous. Just an idea. Keep up the good work.

| Hey thanks Ken. I hope they come in natural looking shapes. I was planing on getting some little pots to plant in but I am trying a less artificial look in the tank. My filter has this bio thing. I am trying to get some more hiding places because there is only one and the betta doesn't share. I will definitely add more plants when I have the spare money. Most of my money is going to a saltwater tank. Watch out for updates. I need to find a home for my pleco. and will be adding more more fish and plants. I also want to trade my black neon for a guppy. To be clear, here is what I will be ading and taking away:
1 Neon Tetra
1 Male fancy Guppy
Java Moss
I will try ruffle swords and another plant for the back.
I will take away:
Pleco
This will take some time. I started another setup while still working on my first one. Stay tuned for my 20 gal planted amazing aquascaped tank! Hopefully coming soon and this really serves as experience. |

| please be careful about over stocking your tank...a ten gallon is on the small side for too many fish(you're not there yet). Also one of each of your favorite fish isnt necessarily the best for the fish or the tank. A small species tank can be quite rewarding.
The look would be better if you had 3 or MORE neons to "school together"...they are gorgeous fish and stunning when in groups...AND they are naturally a schooling fish...one will not be very happy alone.
You tank is beautiful and the setup on your 20 gallon will be even better for you and fish!!!
Enjoy! and good job! |

| Okay my tank looks very well and looks fully stocked. I want to have small fish in the 10 gallon and move my blue ram into a 20 gallon along with 2 dwarf gourami and some other fish. |
