Just finished planting

Aquarium cycled with the help of some great folks here, and media from my other tank. Just finished the planting this evening. The plants look a big beat up due to being shipped in August (bag was steamy despite a cool pack)

55g three goldfish, 2 pleco, tank temp stays at room temp which is about 75 degrees. A little hot for the GF, a little cool for the pleco, but within range.

The blue filter you can see in the dark photo is the filter media from the old tank. It'll come out in a week or so.

I created a pleco cave, and of course, the pleco hid right next to it, but not in it. The cave is to the left of the pleco in the pic

BTW, sorry for enormous photos sizes. I uploaded to flickr without bothering to edit this time.

Pete

nice, natural looking tank. I also thought the 2 different substrates looked awesome. Wondering about that cave you made next to the pleco ( ? ) What is it made out of. And your plec is so darn cute!

Thanks everyone.

The two plecos are both commons. They'll keep me upgrading tanks over time. heh

The cave is just a shape taking advantage of a nice hollow under a piece of driftwood. I positioned it to make a cave-shape, then scooped out some of the gravel, and planted outside with rocks and plants to hide it more and to help keep gravel from sliding back in.

I also have a background I need to put up, once I get some SeaClear adhesive. In the old two tanks, I tried black and blue as backgrounds, but the blue was too bright and the black looked too dingy, so I decided to try a printed plant background this time. Hope it doesn't look silly :P

I love the tank. I wish my goldies would leave the plants alone that I put in, but they either uproot or eat anything I put in there.

Is the background plastic? If it is, you could just put it on with plain water to try it before you "glue" it on. That way if you want to change it you could.

For reference, in case anyone else does the dual substrate thing: goldies LOVE to relocate substrate.
