slime coat good.

The "slime" is a mucus secreted by the fish.

Slime Coat: a protective coat towards diseases, 2. as a buffer in internal-
external gas exchange (osmoregulation), 3. helps reduce a loss of energy while swimming. Slime coat helps protect against parasites and infections.

If you think there's mis-information in another thread, please contact a moderator to check it out.
A fish's slime coat helps protect it.

Edit:
If it's the thread I'm thinking it is.
The post was misinterupted.
The poster didn't say slime coat was bad. She said to force a fish to continually produce it through the use of salt is bad.

Matt,
you may have misunderstood... slime coat on a fish is good. But using salt to produce more slime coat on a fish... is bad. Salt is an irritant.. and by being so, makes the fish produce more slime coat to protect itself from the salt irritation.
