| Tanks doing good, with the exception of the tiger barb that got stuck on the intake tube of the filter and died
Current stock:
-1 Rainbow shark
-3 Bala Sharks
-3 Clown Loaches
-7 Tiger Barbs
Moved some plants from my 10g to the 55g to help with the cycling.
Current readings: pH: 7.4 ammonia: .20 nitrite: 0 nitrate: 15
Did 50% daily water changes last week using "Prime'
Down to 30% daily water changes this week.
I'm having a heck of a time trying to feed them. The stupid tiger barbs and bala sharks eat up everything before it hits the bottom. Or I over feed and there is a TON of food on the bottom.
I want to get some type of moonlight / LED lighting for the tank but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how / where to put it.
Already starting to look for a bigger tank, there is a nice 150g bowfront tank on my local CL for $300 everything included. Last edited by xathine; July 2nd, 2009 at 10:39 AM.

| You can turn off your lights while feeding so the loaches can get some food. |

| Hmm, I'll try that.
Also I just witnessed every single one of my barbs attack my smallest bala shark.
Think I'm going to relocated the balas or barbs can't decided wich |

| Bala sharks really need a big aquarium. I don't think a 55 would be enough unless you get a bigger tank. |

| I picked up 2 Albino Tiger Barbs, and 3 Cherry Barbs today. Only to come home to noticed that my smallest loach died today, name was roger.
Tank readings were normal, not sure why he died.
No nips on his fins, no discoloration. Although I was noticing that he was hiding alot, not schooling with the other loaches
PH: 7.2
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrates: 10-15 |

| Woke up this mroning and noticed white spots all over my loaches and a few barbs.
Hurray for ICH.
Did a 70% water change, dropped in some aquarium salt, raised the temp to 86F.
Don't think I'll buy any ICH meds from the LFS as I've heard mixed results.
Probably going to quit this hobby as fast as I started it... |

| No quitting! Your tank looks great - I'm impressed with all the fixing you did yourself, and the stand looks like new! What you did should work on your ich problem - just give it a week or two. |

| Vacuum the bottom very thoroughly because spores are all over it!
The tank looks even better! Are those all real plants? |

| No lol, they are all fake.
I'm currently in search of a nice bow front tank to fix up and setup. That tank, will be a planted tank.
I did a good bit of vaccuming today. Its VERY hard to cover the entire tank, I've got plants and caves and things everywhere. Not to mention the sand in the middle wich is a huge pain!
So basicly if I do a horrible job at vaccuming the gravel its just going to come back? Last edited by Lucy; July 8th, 2009 at 12:38 PM.

| It's possible, they reproduce like rabbits. |
| |

| Not necessarily. Just vacuum as often as you can. I don't know a lot about ich, but the spores will probably hang out on your plants and stuff too, so you might want to shake them off. |

| Yeah forgot to mention that, take the plants out and clean them with tap water. I might of over emphasized they reproduce like rabbits but they do have a lot of spores looking for the same host or new ones. |

| Xathine you've come too far to give up now The tank is beautiful. Good on raising the temperature to rid the Ich. As far as removing all the plants, personally I wouldn't go that far. Vacuum what you can and let the heat do the rest. Leave the temps up to 86 for the two week period. I have a feeling everything is going to be fine. Best of luck. |

| Thanks guys. I already started picking plants out one by one.
I had some huge nitrate / nitrite spikes today so I did a 70% water change.
Heat is at 86, so far I haven't noticed any imporvement on the ICH.
I have noticed a nice algae problem on my air hoses though. |

| Hopefully with the %70 wc, you got all/most of the spores. I hope things go well! |

| Keep up the good work. Sorry about the ICH if you keep going with the high temp it will go away but remember to do regular gravel vacs to get any eggs out. BTW is the same tank I have but mine has an Iron stand and I painted the trim in black too.
Mine was FREEBIE, ZERO, NADA. Haha. Good Luck. |
